PLAN YOUR TRIP
You can plan your trip around one or more of the thousands of events in our extensive database.  You can search the database by the name of event, date or date range, city, state, region, or category.  You can use single or multiple search criteria to look for your events of interest. Of course, the more search criteria you use the narrower your search will be.  Click the icon when you have entered all of your search criteria.  This will produce the results page with the name, date, venue, description, and location of all the events appropriate for your search.  Clicking the name of the event on this screen will take you that events website.  If tickets are available for this event at separate site, clicking Tickets will take you to the website to purchase tickets. Use your back button to go back to Blaxpedia.

Search Tip - If you are not sure of the full name of an event, type in one word you know is in the name, and use other search criteria to narrow your search.  This will more than likely find your event in search results.  Do not use more than one word unless you are sure they are in succession in the title, because if they are not in succession your search may yield no matches found. For example if you enter Southern as the Event Name and Memphis as the city, Southern Heritage Classic will result, but if you enter Southern Classic as Event Name and Memphis as the city your search results will show no matches found, because Classic doesn’t follow Heritage in the event name.

Search Tip- You can also use the Event Name search as a “keyword” search, if you know that the type of event you are looking for is likely to be found in the title. For example you wanted to look for Jazz Festivals. You could enter Festival in the Event Name and Jazz as the category. That would result in all the Jazz Festivals in the database without listing all the other events that feature jazz.

Search Tip- Be sure all your search criteria match or your search may yield no matches found. For example if you search for Southern Heritage Classic as the event name, Memphis as the city and West Coast as the region, your search will yield no matches found, because Memphis is in the South.

BOOK YOUR TRIP
Once you have found your event and need to book a flight, hotel, and/or car, clicking the  icon will take you to Thompson Travel Service, which is a black owned and operated online travel agency with YTB Travel Network.  Thompson Travel Service is a full service online travel agency with discount pricing for major hotel chains and independents, all major airlines, and car rental agencies.  Thompson Travel Service also features cruises, golf and vacation packages, express passport acquisition, and more.

REGISTER YOUR TRIP
We ask that all visitors to our site register with us. To register click the  icon, and complete the form on the registration page. There are many benefits to registering with Blaxpedia. We have giveaways for our visitors who book qualifying trips with Thompson Travel Service. We would also like to provide you with resources, such as coupons, maps, city guides and etc., to help you on your trip. Even if you don’t book a trip with us, we still would like you to register.  We’d like to keep you informed on events that may interest you, and travel deals to your locations of interest. 

In addition, once you’ve registered with Blaxpedia, you can save your favorite events on your Favorites Page.  After saving your registration info, you will be taken to The Favorites Page that contains the event search engine and space to save your  favorite events.   To save events in your favorites, just click the green add icon ( ), besides the event listed in your search results.  Whenever you log in as a registered user, your saved events will appear.  You can remove events by clicking red delete icon (), beside the event.  To move back and forth from your saved favorite events to your search results use the back button.
For registered users to register a trip for giveaways, log in as above, click the   icon and complete the Traveler’s Information form. Your previously entered registration data along with the newly entered traveler’s information will be forwarded to us, and we will get your gift and travel aids to you.

Blaxtacular Events- These rotating images are graphic displays of the events in Black America we consider the biggest and the best. To scroll backward and forward through the Blaxtacular Events use the arrows that appear when your cursor is held over the picture.  To see a complete list of all the Blaxtacular Events, search using Blaxtacular Event as your only search criteria.

Blaxtacular Cities- The Blaxpedia city guide, featuring the cities most visited by African Americans is coming soon.  The city guides will chronicle each city’s history, events, attraction, restaurants, spas, hot spas, and more.  We will profile businesses that are black owned and operated.
